******************** THE ORIGIN & HISTORY OF SPIRITUAL MUSIC ********************
New-age music is a form of slow-tempo music that intends to produce relaxation, optimism, as well as artistic inspiration. New-age music is mostly used by listeners for massage, meditation and yoga, as well as reading (as a stress management method). It also effects a peaceful atmosphere to a home or any environment, that is why it usually attributed to environmentalism as well as the New Age spirituality.
New-age music’s harmonies are often consonant, modal, structured, and with a drone bass. Nature’s sounds (such as chirping of birds, water trickling in a pond, ocean waves) are used as melodies and found in a music track’s introduction or throughout the track. Musical pieces that last for a few minutes up to thirty minutes are prevalent. In terms of instruments, New-age music makes use of electronic instruments (synth pads and sequencers) and acoustic instruments (piano, acoustic guitar, flute, and various non-western acoustic instruments).
